Get ready to bring your students on an unforgettable journey to the heart of Washington Heights! The Seminole Theatre is proud to present a special Student Matinee Performance of In the Heights on Friday, July 17th at 10:00 AM—a vibrant, high-energy theatrical experience designed for summer camps, youth programs, and student groups.

This Tony Award-winning musical bursts onto the stage with infectious music, dynamic choreography, and a powerful story about community, culture, and chasing your dreams. From the opening number to the final bow, In the Heights immerses audiences in a world full of rhythm, heart, and inspiration—making it the perfect introduction (or return!) to live theatre for students of all ages.

Our student matinee experience goes beyond the performance itself, offering an engaging and educational opportunity that connects the arts with real-world learning. Each group will enjoy:

  • A live, professional-quality performance that sparks imagination and creativity

  • A post-show talkback with the cast, where students can ask questions and gain insight into the production process

Attending live theatre helps students develop confidence, empathy, and a deeper appreciation for storytelling and the performing arts. It also encourages creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking—all in a fun and memorable setting outside the classroom.

We strive to make every visit smooth and enjoyable for group leaders and students alike. Our team is happy to assist with planning your trip, including group seating, arrival coordination, and any specific accommodations your camp or organization may need.

Whether your students are theatre lovers or experiencing their very first show, this special matinee of In the Heights is an exciting opportunity to learn, connect, and be inspired.

Our History

The Theatre originally opened on November 26, 1921 as a cinema, primarily showing the then popular silent movies. The Seminole Theatre quickly became the place to go for entertainment and social gatherings in South Dade County and the upper Keys.
