Mostly Baroque takes pleasure in presenting the comic opera, Game of Werewolf by the very much living American composer Tim Ayers-Kerr who wrote the music as well as the story. Mostly Baroque has presented performances of opera and instrumental music by Bach, Handel, Vivaldi among other composers for the past 25 plus years in South Florida, NYC, Hartford, CT and the UK among other places. It usually presents works from the 18th Century, but Tim is a young composer that Mostly Baroque believes in and we work with him as much as we can. Game of Werewolf is sung in English and according to Tim is influenced by the operettas of Gilbert and Sullivan. It is a fast paced who-done-it and fits in a spooky and fun way with Halloween. As Time describes “it is an Opera in One Chilling Act” and it is based on the classic party game Werewolf by Bezier games. The work was composed in 2017 and has been presented in Boston and Hartford on numerous occasions and has been received very enthusiastically by those audiences. If that’s not enough to interest, you it won a best new opera award from Fresh Squeezed Ounce of Opera (Austin Creative Alliance, Texas) in 2018!
Mostly Baroque was established by David Hartman in 2021 as a not-for-profit organization and is a successor to The Mostly Baroque Players which began giving concerts in 1997 in South Florida and the Keys, NYC, Hartford, CT, The Bahamas and UK. It presents concerts of instrumental and vocal classical music from the 18th Century in the main including the works of JS Bach, GF Handel and A Vivaldi. It does present works from other periods including modern living composers from time to time. Among some of the works it has presented include the Brandenburg Concerti and St. Matthew Passion by JS Bach, Messiah and Concerti Grossi by Handel, Four Seasons by Vivaldi and Amahl and the Night Visitors by Gian Carlo Menotti.
