Directed by Larry Lapin, The Miami Jazz Cooperative (MJC) Voices is a jazz vocal ensemble made up of 13 talented amateurs, professional musicians, music educators and college students. MJC logoMembership in the group is by invitation and/or audition. Its mission is to sustain and promote the art form by presenting high quality jazz to audiences in South Florida and elsewhere.

MJC Voices teams up with jazz/pop/R&B vocalist Arianna Neikrug. Neikrug is the winner of the 2015 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition (the “Sassy” Awards) and has shared the stage with various artists including Steve Miller, Alice Cooper, Kenny Burrell, Neil Young, Al Jarreau, Mindy Abair, James Moody, George Benson, Karrin Allyson, Gretchen Par-lato, and Roseanna Vitro.

This season the group has performed for MJC’s Monday night “Rent Party” at the Open Stage Club in Coral Gables, for the “Jazz In The Gables” series at the Coral Gables Museum, for the “Inside Outside” jazz series at Christ The King Lutheran Church and at the Seminole Theatre in Homestead, Florida. MJC Voices has just sent an application to perform at the 2017 Jazz Education Network International Conference in New Orleans this coming January. A recording project is underway and should be finished and available by spring, 2017.

At The Theatre

Our History

The Theatre originally opened on November 26, 1921 as a cinema, primarily showing the then popular silent movies. The Seminole Theatre quickly became the place to go for entertainment and social gatherings in South Dade County and the upper Keys.
