La Zarzuela, Inc. presents a fully staged production of the zarzuela, La Dolorosa (1930). The work, with original libretto by J.J. Lorente and music by José Serrano, has been adapted for modern audiences by Jorge Arcila and Daniel Daroca. The new version features two new romanzas by Daniel Daroca, the participation of the 5Plus vocal ensemble, and cinematographic and virtual elements created by Jacqueline Solórzano.

This production is dedicated to ProArte Grateli- organization that pioneered and kept alive the art of the zarzuela in Miami for almost half a century- in commemoration of its premiere of La Dolorosa over fifty years ago.

The cast- in alphabetical order- features: Jorge Arcila, Yetzabel Arias, Eduardo Calcaño, Miguel Cervantes, Carlos Jimeno, Silvia Ludueña, Laura de Mare, Karel Morell, Fer du Port, and Carlos Silva.

La Zarzuela, Inc. (LZ) is a young nonprofit organization founded and incorporated in 2020 whose mission is to foster, update, and popularize the art of the zarzuela through a vibrant season of productions, educational activities, and research projects, while celebrating and promoting Spanish American culture in general within the Miami-Dade community and beyond.

In 2021, La Zarzuela, Inc. presented its inaugural fully staged production- the zarzuela Luisa Fernanda by Moreno Torroba in a new streamlined version. The production was presented at the Seminole Theatre and the Miracle Theatre. More information about La Zarzuela, Inc. can be found at:

The Seminole Theatre acts as a rental venue for groups and promoters of all types. The production values, views and opinions do not reflect those of the Seminole Theatre.

All orders carry a transaction fee. All sales are final unless the event is cancelled, patrons would then get the choice of a refund, credit or pick a different show.All patrons, regardless of age, must have a ticket. Lap seat tickets are available for select performances. All sales are final. There are no refunds for any reason except event cancellation.

At The Theatre

Our History

The Theatre originally opened on November 26, 1921 as a cinema, primarily showing the then popular silent movies. The Seminole Theatre quickly became the place to go for entertainment and social gatherings in South Dade County and the upper Keys.
