Vincent – a play by Leonard Nimoy
Leonard Nimoy’s Vincent dramatizes the life of Vincent van Gogh in this intimate one-man play adapted from the actual letters between the artist and his brother, Theo. Van Gogh’s story is so much more than the misunderstood artist who cut off his own ear. This play reveals the bigger meaning and significance of Van Gogh’s life, a symbol of inspiration, courage, passion, and the lust for life that art kindles in all of us. It also includes over 100 stunning high-resolution projec-tions of Vincent’s artwork on a large screen. Presented by Starry Night Theater Company and performed by James Briggs.

Celebrate the National Parks Centennial Year with Homestead Center for the Arts on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 7 PM in the Seminole Theatre.
Homestead is proud to be the Gateway to Biscayne and Everglades National Parks, two of the crown jewels of America’s 59 national parks.
We are bringing you a special evening. This unique concert, performed by the Chance Ensemble, was created for the Centennial Year. It has been presented to over thirty National Parks Associations. Listen to the words of John Muir, the same words that inspired President Theodore Roosevelt to create the National Park Service. The pieces were composed especially for this presentation. The brisk violin of Liesel Wilson compliments the original cello works of Ed Willet and the ethereal soprano of Cheryl Leah. Ensemble member and actor, Thomas Clyde Mitchell, recites Muir’s poetry and provides Celtic percussion, fresh from John Muir’s native Scotland, giving the group a distinctive Scottish flavor.
Chance has opened for Little Feat, Willie Nelson, Leo Kottke, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Rickie Lee Jones and others but feels most comfortable with an intimate audience shaped by the Park Service mission.

A deviously delicious Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi smash musical, Little Shop Of Horrors has devoured the hearts of theatre goers for over 30 years. Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Beauty And The Beast, and Aladdin) are the creative geniuses behind what has become one of the most popular shows in the world.

The meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names “Audrey II” – after his coworker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it, BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II’s out of this world origins and intent towards global domination!
The musical is based on the low-budget 1960s black & white comedy film of the same name directed by Roger Corman. The musical sports music stylings of the early 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown genres and includes several well-known tunes including the title song, Skid Row (Downtown), Somewhere That’s Green, and Suddenly Seymour.

Subvert is the beginning of a reconciliation movement between the Church and the Youth of Homestead and Florida City.The goal of Subvert is to provide a positive influence and make the stereotype of today’s youth culture weaker and less effective. We want to fund community-based youth programs to create environments for today’s youth to have a place to find good role models and safe havens from the world we live in. This concert is step one. JDUB, is a Christian hip hop artist delivering a positive message of hope, grace and life eternal.
