On Monday, April 3, the Seminole Theatre will open its doors to the public for a Gallery Night at the Seminole. From 6:00-8:00pm, guests are welcome to browse the artwork on display, meet the featured artist, and enjoy wine and cheese.

The featured artist for February- March  2017 is is Robert L. Chaplin and Le Jardin School

Rober Chaplin considers the Everglades his photographic playground. His passion for the Everglades is infectious. More than a fine art photographer, he teaches nature photography and leads workshops in Everglades National Park, is a founding director of the South Florida National Parks Camera Club, a member of the South Florida National Parks Trust, and a director with the Everglades Association. Come and enjoy his new Polar Bear Exibit.

Le Jardin School is part of the e Jardin Community Center, Inc. is a nonprofit agency founded in 1987. Le Jardin has over 28 years of experience in providing childcare services to the southern regions of Miami-Dade County.Join us to admire the incredible art-work created by the talented children of the Le Jardin School.

Join us for Bella & Harry’s Easter Egg Hunt adventure! The Seminole Theatre will host an egg-citing Easter Egg Hunt and fun activities on Saturday, April 8th starting at 1 p.m. at the Seminole Theatre located in Downtown Homestead.

Families are invited to enjoy a Easter egg hunt, arts & crafts, raffles and a special appearance by BELLA & HARRY! After the hunt stay for the ecxiting performance of “THE ADVENTURES OF BELLA & HARRY LET’S VISIT LONDON! THE MUSICAL!”.

Don’t forget to bring your Easter basket and camera!

Homestead Community Concerts is proud to present performances by our music scholarship winners. The top musicians 18 years of age and under in Miami-Dade county competed for five scholarship prizes. All five will be given at the showcase including the 1st prize “Carmen Seepersad Memorial Scholarship” award. Our past prize winners have been the recipients of local, state, and national distinctions. All VIP tickets include a dinner with the scholarship recipients after their performances where you’ll have a chance to ask them questions and get to know them better.  Come out and support our incredible young artists!

Dinner will be on the Seminole Theatre Terrace after the performance.

GableStage (a professional theatre located at The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables) brings a high energy and tightly edited version of William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew to The Seminole Theatre!  The production, in collaboration with the What if Works Inc, is under the direction of FIU Associate Professor, Phillip M Church. It features 7 dynamic performers—all FIU graduates—in a one-hour adaptation of the classic work.

The Taming of the Shrew is a comedy believed to have been written between 1590 and 1592. The main plot depicts the courtship of Petruchio and Katherina—the headstrong, stubborn “shrew”. Through various psychological torments, Petruchio is able to “tame” Katherina into becoming his bride. The subplot involves a competition between suitors for, Bianca—Katherina’s more desirable sister. The tale itself has been adapted numerous times for stage, screen, opera, ballet, and musical theatre with the most famous being Cole Porter’s Kiss Me Kate and the high school comedy film 10 Things I Hate About You.

The adaptation features aspects of Commedia dell Arte, “slapstick” and “physical” theatre. It is a great introduction to Shakespeare and theatre!
