Ballet and Beyond artistic director Karen Hirst Kennedy presents Alice in Wonderland an exciting rendition of the tumultuous journey of a young girl’s imagination. To be performed at the Seminole Theatre, Friday June 6th 7:00pm and Saturday June 7th 7:00pm Alice in Wonderland, a story ballet in 2 Acts, tells the story of Alice in her home with her sister and tutor. After her mother reprimands her, Alice is upset and falls asleep to find herself chasing a rabbit who leads her to the forest where she meets 2 children who tell her a sad story about oysters. She continues on her path following the rabbit to some angry flowers, a snobby caterpillar, a crazy tea party and finally to the Queen and King of hearts, where she is tried and sentenced to death. Luckily, she wakes up in time to realize it was all a bad dream. This story ballet will delight children and adults alike, danced by the professionally trained Ballet and Beyond dancers. The Miss South Florida Scholarship Program is a voluntary organization dedicated to offering scholarship opportunities to young ladies between the ages of 14- 28 years in the South Florida Community. We are dedicated to helping all young women to succeed as they pursue their dreams of higher education. In addition, we are extremely proud to be part of the Miss America Organization, which contributes to many leading achievement programs and is one the world’s largest provider of scholarship assistance for women.
At The Miss South Florida Scholarship competition, you will see Misses and Teens compete in different categories for scholarships and titles. The winners will move on to compete at the state level, Miss Florida, and Miss Florida Teen in June. Those young ladies that win in June will represent Florida at Miss America.

Synopsis
Sister Act is the feel-good musical comedy smash based on the hit 1992 film that has audiences jumping to their feet! Featuring original music by Tony- and eight-time Oscar winner, Alan Menken (Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors), this uplifting musical was nominated for five Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
When disco diva, Deloris Van Cartier, witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won’t be a found: a convent! Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but, in doing so, blows her cover. Soon, the gang is giving chase, only to find them up against Deloris and the power of her newly found sisterhood.
Filled with powerful gospel music, outrageous dancing and a truly moving story, Sister Act will leave audiences breathless! A sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship, Sister Act is reason to REJOICE! We are looking for both singers and dancers for this production.
Audition Guidelines For open calls:
Please prepare 16 -32 measures of an upbeat song or ballad in your key (less than a minute). Choose a piece that you are comfortable with and one that shows off your strengths. You will need to sing with an accompaniment track. We will provide a speaker that you can Bluetooth your phone to and will allow you time to test the volume before you sing. Many tracks are available on Youtube, but since internet is a little spotty in our audition room we encourage you to download or screen record your accompaniment so you don’t need internet reception. Memorization of your vocal excerpt is strongly encouraged since it is difficult to see the emotion in your face if you are reading off a paper/screen. Everyone auditioning will be required to do a vocal audition as well as participate in the dance call.
For the dance call, make sure to wear clothes and shoes you can move and turn in. There will be a warm-up to start with and you may be on the ground for that. You will have time to change clothes between vocal audition and dance call if you so choose.
Headshots and resumes are not required but we will take them if you have them. No monologues necessary.
