To continue preservation of The Seminole Theatre as an architectural treasure of our Historic Downtown Homestead, and to promote the Theatre as the community’s cultural center for many years to come – to provide support for community programming, educational opportunities, and related events to build upon the Theatre’s impact and service to our culturally diverse community.
Impact
Since re-opening the Seminole Theatre less than 2 years ago, the Friends have accomplished: -Installing and maintaining “Artist in the Spotlight” program to display local visual artists -Subsidize tickets for over 400 at-need young people and their families. -Launched a community theatre company and presented “Hairspray”
Plans
Future plans for the Friends include: -Expanding community theatre into resident group “Seminole Theatre Players” and presenting a regular mainstage season-Launching youth theater program to present bi-annual productions -Providing scholarships for summer musical theater camps -Growing ticket subsidies to bring 1,000 persons per year -Renovate historic elements of theater lobby.

The Auditorium is a multi-purpose, 420 seat state-of-the-art performing arts center perfectly equipped for concerts, theater, dance, film, corporate events, graduations and more. The newly renovated auditorium has two levels of seating, a fly system, orchestra pit, dressing rooms, and in-house lighting, audio and projection systems. Technical Staff (At Prevailing Rates)
A Technical Director must be present for all events in Auditorium. Use of House Audio or Lighting Systems will require additional technical staff. Please advance needs for staff estimates. See Technical Staff Schedule page for examples of technical staffing packages.
Event Insurance:
Charged at market rate plus $75 management fee. Renters with sufficient liability insurance may be exempt.
Security Deposit:
A security deposit shall be due in addition to the Estimated Fees & Charges. The security deposit will be returned five (5) business days following the event, less any expenses related to damage to venue, equipment and property, and any additional labor hours required that were not billed.
Additional Terms:
7% Sales Tax applies to all rental rates, ticket sales, and other reimbursable charges (but not labor) unless Licensee has proof of State of Florida Tax Exempt Status.
Auditorium Rate includes lobbies and dressing rooms, maintenance and building coverage for load-in, set-up, rehearsals and one performance.
Any hours over scheduled rates will be billed at one and a half of the pro-rated rates. For example, a “Commercial – Public Performance or Presentation” scheduled for a Thursday from 8:00am to 3:00pm will be assessed a rental fee of $937.50 for an additional hour. $750 standard rate for half day plus $187.50 ($750/6 * 1.5 = $187.50 per additional hour).
Rehearsal, Film/Photo Shoot, or Private Conference. Rate shall grant access to Auditorium and Dressing Rooms only; event will not be listed and building shall not be open to public or guests. If renter desires private attendance event will be treated as a public performance and applicable rate will be applied.
*HOLIDAY RATES: Rental rates shall be assessed at one and a half times (1.5x) Friday or Saturday rate, regardless of the day of the week. Staffing charges will be assessed at one and a half times (1.5x) the listed rates. Holidays: New Year’s Eve, New Years Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Easter.
Our Terrace is a covered outdoor event space overlooking the adjacent Losner Park and Historic Downtown. The Terrace is perfect for private parties or small receptions, especially in conjunction with Auditorium Events.
Rental of the Terrace also includes use of our “secret room”, an indoor, adjoining mixed use space with a glimpse of an old Homestead mural. Inquire for more details.

For most performances, the lobby and café/bar open one hour before the time printed on your ticket. Auditorium doors typically open 30 minutes before the performance. Times may vary by event, so check your event information or call the Box Office at 786-650-2073 if you need confirmation.
The Seminole Theatre offers a café and bar with snacks and alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages before and during many performances. Availability and service times may vary by event. The Theatre does not provide full-service dining; visit the Where to Eat page for nearby restaurant ideas.
No. Outside food and beverages are not permitted inside the Seminole Theatre.
Accessibility
Yes. The Seminole Theatre provides accessible seating, entrances and restrooms. To arrange accessible seating or ask questions about mobility access, contact the Box Office at 786-650-2073 or [email protected].
Contact the Theatre as early as possible and at least five days before the event when requesting accessible-format materials, a sign-language interpreter or another accommodation for a Theatre-sponsored program or meeting. Yes. Assistive listening devices are available at applicable performances. Ask a staff member for a receiver when you arrive. Patrons may also bring their own earphones to use with the devices. Availability can depend on whether the performance uses the Theatre’s sound system.
Accessible parking spaces are limited and may be reserved in front of the Theatre by calling 786-650-2073 in advance. The front entrance may also be used as a drop-off and pick-up area for performances.
Venue Policies
No. Firearms and other weapons are not permitted in the venue or in public spaces owned or operated by the Seminole Theatre.
No. Smoking and vaping are prohibited throughout the Seminole Theatre, including the auditorium, classrooms, meeting rooms, lobby, elevators, hallways and restrooms.
Backpacks, purses and other personal bags are permitted unless an event-specific rule states otherwise. All bags and personal items, regardless of size, are subject to search before entry.
Tickets, Refunds and Weather
No. In addition to our own productions, the Seminole Theatre acts as a rental venue for outside groups and promoters. When a show is presented by an outside group, the production values, views and opinions do not necessarily reflect those of the Seminole Theatre. Each event page shows a notice indicating whether the show is a Seminole Theatre production or a rental so you’ll see the correct terms before purchasing tickets.
All ticket sales are final, and refunds or exchanges are generally not available except when an event is cancelled. Every ticket order carries a transaction fee, and lap-seat tickets are available for select performances; all patrons regardless of age must have a ticket. If a show is a rental / outside production, the same refund policy applies but the Seminole Theatre does not produce the event — see the notice on the specific event page. If a performance is postponed or rescheduled, patrons may receive the options announced by the Theatre, which may include retaining their tickets for the new date or requesting a refund. Tickets for the original date will be honored on the rescheduled date unless the Theatre states otherwise. If a performance is cancelled, refunds will be issued through the original point of purchase.
If a performance proceeds despite poor weather, the Theatre is not required to provide a refund. If the performance is postponed or cancelled, the Theatre will make every effort to notify ticket holders and explain the available ticket options.
