Councilwoman Bailey’s Artist in the Spotlight Looking for Local Artists to Celebrate Black History Month
Homestead’s Councilwoman Jenifer Bailey is looking for local artists to participate in the Artist in the Spotlight program who are interested in displaying their work that features black history in honor of Black History Month. Participating artists will be able to display their artwork in the Seminole Theatre lobby for a period of two months and host an artist reception on February 22nd at the Seminole Theatre. Additionally, the artist will be recognized and given the opportunity to promote their artwork at a Homestead City Council Meeting. The Artist in the Spotlight program is open to all types of artistic mediums and formats and to individuals, art clubs, and schools.
“The purpose of our Artist in the Spotlight program is to shine a light on our local artists and bring people together,” says Councilwoman Bailey, an avid lover and supporter of the arts. “We want to engage the community by providing them a space to display their art and continue to be meaningful contributors to Homestead’s culture.”
The deadline for submissions is Monday, February 12, 2024

Councilwoman Bailey’s Artist in the Spotlight Looking for Local Artists to Celebrate Haitian Heritage Month
Councilwoman Jenifer Bailey of Homestead is extending an invitation to local artists interested in participating in the Artist in the Spotlight program. This initiative aims to showcase artworks that highlight Haitian history or are created by Haitian artists, aligning with the spirit of Haitian Heritage Month.
Selected artists will have the unique opportunity to exhibit their creations in the prestigious Seminole Theatre lobby for a duration of two months. To celebrate their artistic endeavors, an exclusive artist reception is scheduled for March 10th at the Seminole Theatre. Furthermore, participating artists will receive special recognition and the chance to present and promote their work during a Homestead City Council Meeting. The Artist in the Spotlight program is open to all types of artistic mediums and formats and to individuals, art clubs, and schools.
Councilwoman Bailey, a devoted advocate of the arts, expresses the program's purpose, stating, "Our Artist in the Spotlight initiative aims to illuminate the rich tapestry of our local artists and foster community connections. By providing a platform for artists to showcase their work, we strive to contribute meaningfully to Homestead's cultural landscape."
