On Halloween itself, Monday, October 31st, plan to leave a bowl of candy out and treat yourself to a night at the Seminole Theatre for the radio theater presentation of Dracula. Part of the Seminole on the Air Series, a partnership between the Seminole Theatre, WLRN Radio Theater and the Arts Radio Network Theatre Project, Dracula is a live re-production of Orson Welles’ original radio theater broadcast with the Mercury Theater in 1938. The performance will feature an authentic script, live actors and live sound effects. The performance starts at 7:00pm, so theater-goers can attend the one act performance and talk-back and still get home before the ghouls come out! Tickets start at just $18. (Photo by Carl Dawson)

More adventurous theater-goers may also want to check out Ginsberg Productions’ presentation of The Rocky Horror Show. Richard O'Brien’s musical is a humorous tribute to the science fiction and horror B movies of the late 1940s through to the early 1970s, telling the story of a newly engaged couple getting caught in a storm and coming to the home of a mad transvestite scientist unveiling his new creation. The stage show was later adapted to the cult film The Rocky Horror Picture Show, but Ginsberg Productions will present the original live musical production. Performances are October 28 and 29, both at 8:00pm. Audience members are encouraged to dress up and participate. A participation script and allowable props can be foundHERE. Note, the Seminole Theatre does not allow food or open liquids inside the auditorium. Ginsberg Productions is a Resident Theater Company of the Seminole Theatre.

Our History

The Theatre originally opened on November 26, 1921 as a cinema, primarily showing the then popular silent movies. The Seminole Theatre quickly became the place to go for entertainment and social gatherings in South Dade County and the upper Keys.
