2018 Summer Season

The Friends of the Seminole Theatre and the Seminole Theatre Players are proud to announce the 2018 Summer Season.

After the success of last summer's sold-out production of Hairspray, co-produced with the experienced Ginsberg Productions, the Seminole Theatre Players have been deternined to bring more community theater to the area.  This summer's line-up includes two shows with very different genres, sure to please everyone.

IN THE HEIGHTS: Auditions March 20-22, Performances June 22-July 1

Music and Lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda (Creator of HAMILTON), Book by Quiara Alegría Hudes, Conceived By Lin-Manuel Miranda

IN THE HEIGHTS tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood – a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It’s a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind. IN THE HEIGHTS is the winner of the 2008 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score, Best Choreography and Best Orchestrations.
Directed by Mickey McGuire, Choreographed by Tiffany Hosch, Music Directed by Tony Seepersad

Our History

The Theatre originally opened on November 26, 1921 as a cinema, primarily showing the then popular silent movies. The Seminole Theatre quickly became the place to go for entertainment and social gatherings in South Dade County and the upper Keys.
