Now is the time to make those dreams come true. \nThe Friends of the Historic Seminole Theatre are proud to announce the next production of The Junior Players\, a theater conservatory program providing training and performance opportunities for young people. Kids of ages 8-16 can now register for our spring production of Mean Girls. \nMean Girls\, the brutally hilarious musical from book writer Tina Fey (30 Rock)\, lyricist Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde) and composer Jeff Richmond (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt). This queen bee took Broadway by storm and has joined the musical in-crowd. Adapted from Fey’s hit 2004 film\, Mean Girls was nominated for a staggering 12 Tony Awards.  \nCady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna\, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois. How will this naïve newbie rise to the top of the popularity pecking order? By taking on The Plastics\, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. But when Cady devises a plan to end Regina’s reign\, she learns the hard way that you can’t cross a queen bee without getting stung. \nThe rehearsals will be every Saturday\, Feb 8 – May 4\, 2025 from 9:00am – 4:00pm at the Seminole Theatre (this may also include Friday evening rehearsals). We also expect the students to be available every evening for tech rehearsals April 29 – May 4\, and for the three performances May 2 -4 (Friday and Saturday evenings\, Sunday afternoon). \nNo experience required! The Jr. Players are open to all who wish to be involved. Auditions will be held on the first rehearsal day\, and parts will be assigned for the production. Not every student can play a lead role\, but every student will be an integral part of a fun production and have a fantastic learning experience. \nThe cost to participate is $500 per student. This covers the directors and instructors\, plus any costumes\, props or specialty makeup needed for the show (other than shoes and basic undergarments). This has fee has been greatly underwritten thanks to the Friends of the Historic Seminole Theatre. Lunch is not provided\, students will need to bring lunches (a refrigerator and microwave are available). \nTo register\, please check out on link below\, or call or visit the Seminole Theatre box office at 18 N Krome Ave\, Homestead\, FL 786-650-2073. We are looking for both singers and dancers for this production.  \nCAST BREAKDOWN\n Audition Guidelines For open calls: \nPlease prepare 16 -32 measures of an upbeat song or ballad in your key (less than a minute). Choose a piece that you are comfortable with and one that shows off your strengths. You will need to sing with an accompaniment track. We will provide a speaker that you can Bluetooth your phone to and will allow you time to test the volume before you sing. Many tracks are available on Youtube\, but since internet is a little spotty in our audition room we encourage you to download or screen record your accompaniment so you don’t need internet reception.  Memorization of your vocal excerpt is strongly encouraged since it is difficult to see the emotion in your face if you are reading off a paper/screen.  Everyone auditioning will be required to do a vocal audition as well as participate in the dance call.   \n For the dance call\, make sure to wear clothes and shoes you can move and turn in.  There will be a warm-up to start with and you may be on the ground for that.  You will have time to change clothes between vocal audition and dance call if you so choose.  \n Headshots and resumes are not required but we will take them if you have them. Disguised as a nun\, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior. We are looking for both singers and dancers for this production.  \nCAST BREAKDOWN\n Audition Guidelines For open calls: \nPlease prepare 16 -32 measures of an upbeat song or ballad in your key (less than a minute). Choose a piece that you are comfortable with and one that shows off your strengths. You will need to sing with an accompaniment track. We will provide a speaker that you can Bluetooth your phone to and will allow you time to test the volume before you sing. Many tracks are available on Youtube\, but since internet is a little spotty in our audition room we encourage you to download or screen record your accompaniment so you don’t need internet reception.  Memorization of your vocal excerpt is strongly encouraged since it is difficult to see the emotion in your face if you are reading off a paper/screen.  Everyone auditioning will be required to do a vocal audition as well as participate in the dance call.   \n For the dance call\, make sure to wear clothes and shoes you can move and turn in.  There will be a warm-up to start with and you may be on the ground for that.  You will have time to change clothes between vocal audition and dance call if you so choose.  \n Headshots and resumes are not required but we will take them if you have them.
