Krome Avenue\, Homestead\, FL\, US\n\n \n“The Nutcracker\,” presented by Alihaydee Carreño Ballet School\, is a complete production\, but this time we are dividing the performance into two parts. \nThe first part is with a diversity of classical\, contemporary\, Lyrical\, and jazz dances where \nour students demonstrate their technical work and their preparation for competitions that will represent our school at a high level. \nThe second part of the program will be the Nutcracker ballet. \nA family Christmas tradition\, perfect for celebrating the season. \nFull of spectacular settings\, colorful costumes\, and fascinating characters. Children and adults will be captivated by the Snow scene\, which transports us to a winter landscape in which snowflakes dance in that magical snowy forest world. \nFlying into the world of fairies with its perfect music creates the atmosphere of a fairy tale\, which takes them to the kingdom of sweets. Where a party is held and where a series of traditional and exotic dances from different countries take place where it is received by the Garapiñada fairy\, her Knight\, and the rest of the sweets. \nCertainly\, Tchaikovsky’s music for this ballet is one of his most famous scores. It contains some of his most memorable melodies\, including the famous Waltz of the Flowers and the Dance of the Garapiñada Fairy. \nThis beautiful story of the nutcracker prince\, entertaining and full of fantasy\, to which the music of Tchaikovsky joins perfectly\, elegantly opens this supreme season of Alihaydee Carreño Ballet School for this 2022. \nWe are a Ballet school where we train dancers\, as an essential complement to formal education for girls\, boys and young people who love the art of dance. \nOur methodology is based on the teaching system of the Cuban School of Ballet created by the great teacher Fernando Alonso and the prima ballerina Alicia Alonso. We train our students in a strict and proven technique (according to the age and ability of each one) to develop their artistic talent to an advanced and professional level\, so that they can become familiar with the various styles\, both neoclassical and as contemporary\, Ballroom\, Hip Hop\, Jazz\, Tap\, etc. \nOur program groups classes based on each student’s individual age\, aptitude\, and experience. \nIn the summer courses\, because the holidays allow students to spend more time on extracurricular activities\, our classes are longer\, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.\, which makes possible the technical and artistic improvement of the students for the periodic competitions and public presentations that we make during the year. \nMy purpose is to transmit to the students my experience of more than 20 years of professional career as first figure of the National Ballet of Cuba and as a guest artist in other world-famous dance companies. \n\n Tickets are also available at the Box Office Thurs-Sat 12pm-5pm  \nAll sales are final. DESCRIPTION:Registration now open!\nSeminole Theatre 18 N. Krome Avenue\, Homestead\, FL\, US\n\n  \n  \nDoes your child dream of taking center stage? Now is the time to make those dreams come true. \nThe Friends of the Historic Seminole Theatre are proud to announce another Junior Players production. The theater conservatory program provides training and performance opportunities for young people. Kids of ages 9-16 can now register for our spring production of Once on this island Jr. \nAn island of storytellers come together to tell a story of love\, bravery\, and strength…the story of the peasant girl\, Ti Moune. An orphan\, chosen by the Gods\, is taken into a simple and loving family\, Though content\, she feels like she was destined for something more. After a terrible accident caused by a wicked storm\, Ti Moune falls for a handsome\, ailing\, stranger whom she tries desperately to nurse back to health. She bargains with the Gods for his life\, but to do so she must make the ultimate sacrifice. This sets our young peasant girl on the ultimate quest to answer the age old question\, can love conquer death? \nThe rehearsals will be every Saturday\, January 21\, 2023 from 8:30am – 5:30pm at the Seminole Theatre. Plan to bring a snack and lunch during every rehearsal. We also expect the students to be available every evening for tech rehearsals 04/17/23- 04/20/22\, and for the three performances 04/21/23-04/23/23(Friday and Saturday evenings\, Sunday afternoon). \nNo experience required! The Jr. Players are open to all who wish to be involved. Auditions will be held on the first rehearsal day\, and parts will be assigned for the production. Not every student can play a lead role\, but every student will be an integral part of a fun production and have a fantastic learning experience. \nThe full tution cost is $750 to cover the directors and instructors\, plus any costumes\, props or specialty makeup needed for the show (other than shoes and basic undergarments).  \n​Scholarships: \nWe have half scholarships available thanks to the Friends of the Historic Seminole. Scholarships will be given on a financial need basis. For the first time we will also have scholarships available based on Merit. Applicants will be asked to submit a 60 sec video of the child singing. Marvelous things will happen when you watch the story of Jane Elizabeth Trotter\, a young girl forced to live with her two cruel aunts: Spiker and Sponge\, in a broken home in the south of England. When a mysterious man shows up one day and gives her a magical bag filled with enchanted crocodile tongues (ew!)\, giant peaches bloom from dead trees\, tiny insects become human-sized talking and dancing companions\, and wishes for a newer\, better life come true\, as Jane and her buggy family escape that dreary house on the hill to journey onward to the greatest city in the world: New York! This story is a hilarious experience that explores the infinite universe of childhood imagination\, love\, and newfound family. \nValyrian Bards Youth Theatre  \n(Loly Lopez | Artistic Director) \nValyrian Bards Youth Theatre was founded in 2018 at Pinecrest Glades Academy with the purpose of bringing an impactful and transformative experience for both young actors and the audience. \nAfter the breakout success of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (2022)\, Valyrian Bards returns to the Seminole Theatre with “Jane and the Giant Peach” (2023); an adaptation of Roald Dahl’s famous children’s book. The troupe has also produced Hamilton’s “My Shot” (2018)\, Seussical’s “Oh\, the Thinks You Can Think” (2018)\, “Alice in Wonderland: The Musical” (2019)\, “A Charlie Brown Christmas”(2020/Zoom)\, the adapted poem “I Am” (2020/Shanti Bhavan/Zoom)\, Elf the Musical’s “Sparklejollytwinklejingley” (2021)\,  A Christmas Carol’s “It Feels Like Christmas” (2022)\, and Moliere’s Tartuffe (2022-2023)- becoming a Superior awarded troupe at District and State levels during their first time competing. Local students of the Guitars Over Guns program work with their mentors for months to be ready for their big performance. This is an opportunity for families and the wider community to experience our students performing live. Students will perform live including guitar\, bass\, keys\, drums\, production\, vocals\, rap and spoken word. Trust us\, you don’t want to miss it! The South Dade Spring Showcase will feature students from Cutler Bay Middle School\, Homestead Middle School\, Redland Middle School\, Richmond Heights Middle School\, South Dade Middle School\, Homestead Senior High School and Miami Southridge Senior High School. Guitars Over Guns is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Miami and Chicago\, offering students from our most vulnerable communities a powerful combination of music education and mentorship with professional musicians to help them overcome hardship\, find their voice and reach their potential as tomorrow’s leaders. Guitars Over Guns creates safe spaces for youth to express themselves through music and empowers them to make positive choices at school\, at home and in their communities. Established in 2008\, we have served more than 8\,000 students over the past fifteen years. Guitars Over Guns’ unique curriculum emphasizes social-emotional learning and outcomes through music and arts instruction. After each session\, mentors assess students’ academic performance\, school and program attendance\, artistic progress and peer interactions. We use social-emotional learning measurements to evaluate key competencies such as empathy\, teamwork\, initiative\, responsibility and problem solving. Recent evaluations indicate that over 90 percent of Guitars Over Guns students improved their academic performance\, overall conduct and decision-making skills. These measurements are byproducts of a greater shift that is occurring in the way these young people think about the world and their place in it. \n\nTickets are also available at the Box Office Thurs-Sat 12pm-5pm  \nAll sales are final. She finds herself in a strange land where everyone is raving mad. With the help of a Cheshire Cat\, an astute Caterpillar\, and a righteous Humpty Dumpty\, Alice must find her way home and discover who she really is.
