SUMMARY:It's a Wonderful Life Auditions - Oct 7th and 8th
DESCRIPTION:Come audition for STP’s Holiday show It’s a Wonderful Life Auditions\nMonday\, 07 October 2019 7PM & Tuesday\, 8 October 2019 7PM\nSeminole Theatre\n18 North Krome Avenue\, Homestead\, FL\, US\n\n  \n\n\n \nThe Seminole Theatre Players (STP) is announcing auditions for their holiday show! STP is calling auditions for roles in the production of It’s A Wonderful Life\, and we want to see YOU in the show! All experience levels are encouraged to audition. Don’t miss your opportunity to be apart of this cherished holiday tradition in homestead. \nThe system defaults to Monday\, but you can hit “SELECT A DIFFERENT DATE” to choose another date \n  \nAudition Information \nThere will be two days of open call auditions (you need only attend one audition day) followed by an additional day of call backs. You may or may not be invited to return for call backs. Audition dates and times are as follows: \nOPEN CALL AUDITIONS Monday\, October 7 from 7:00-10:00 in the evening at the Seminole Theatre.  \nTuesday\, October 8 from 7:00-10:00 in the evening at the Seminole Theatre. \nCALL BACKSThursday\, October 10 from 7:00-10:00 in the evening at the Seminole Theatre. \nRecommendations of What to Bring for Open Calls1. Monologue \n– Auditioners are encouraged (but not required) to prepare a dramatic monologue. If you have no monologue prepared\, we will have a short monologue from the play that we will ask you to read and act out. \n– What is a monologue\, you say? A monologue in theater can best be described as a speech presented by a single character\, most often to express their mental thoughts aloud\, though sometimes also to directly address another character or the audience. They are often great tools to evaluate an actor’s range and common practice in auditions. \n– How to pick a monologue? Check out these 9 essential tips from Backstage Magazine. https://www.backstage.com/advice-for-actors/backstage-experts/9-elements-make-great-monologue/ \n– Then\, check out this database of monologues prepared by StageAgent https://stageagent.com/monologues \n– We want to see you be awesome\, so don’t be afraid to prepare a monologue or just show up and read the script. We just want to see you come out to auditions. \n2. Resume and Headshot \n– Also\, it’s very helpful to bring a resume of any other shows or related experience\, plus a RECENT headshot or photograph (a computer print out or 4×6 print from CVS/Walgreens etc. is fine). \n Show Information and Time Commitment It’s A Wonderful LifeAdapted for the stage by: James W. SUMMARY:Jimmy Shubert - Last Comic Standing
DESCRIPTION:Jimmy Shubert is one of the busiest comedians working today after becoming a finalist on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” and being seen on Comedy Central as the closing act on Dave Atell’s Comedy Underground.\nSeminole Theatre\n18 N Krome\, Homestead\, FL\, US\n   \n\n\n \n<a href=”https://www.eventbrite.com/e/jimmy-schubert-last-comic-standing-tickets-66952612065?ref=ebtn” target=”_blank”><img src=”https://www.eventbrite.com/custombutton?eid=66952612065″ alt=”Eventbrite – Jimmy Schubert – Last Comic Standing” /></a> \nJimmy Shubert has built an impressive resume as an actor\, both in film and on television. As a comedian\, he is one of the busiest comedians working today. After becoming a finalist on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” and being seen on Comedy Central as the closing act on Dave Atell’s Comedy Underground. Shubert’s New-hour special ‘Zero Tolerance” is a theatrical presentation of Shubert’s stand-up persona of a blue collar working man’s man. He combines the outlook of a modern-day Archie Bunker with an utterly real world sensibility to create signature pieces of comedy\, on Therapy cats\, Smart Phones\, Male grooming and\, the dumbing down of America. Shubert loves playing the part of a pop culture Iconoclast. In television\, Shubert is also known for his recurring role on “King of Queens” for five years and several appearances on “Entourage”. Jimmy has a wide range as an actor and has played everything from a prison guard in a hostage crisis to a murder victim on “Monk.” He’s worked with such marquee names as Brad Pitt\, Angelina Jolie\, Charlize Theron\, Katie Holmes\, Kevin James\, James Caan and the late Robin Williams. On the small screen\, He recently did a guest star on IFC’s  ”Maron.” \nThe Seminole Theatre features comfortable seats\, state of the art lighting and sound\, and a full bar\, of course. The show is at 8 pm and doors open at 7 pm. Ages 18+ \nHeadliners include: \nAngela NaccaAngela B. Nacca represents the moms\, the wives\, and the working and menopausal women of the world. Her act is sure to keep you laughing as she tells the stories of her 36-year marriage\, her career in medicine\, or the trials of menopause – like “doing a little peepee in your pants when you laugh and sneeze.” Born and raised in New Haven\, Connecticut\, before moving to West Palm Beach\, Florida\, 14 years ago\, Angela has been a hit in a range of venues. She’s performed at the Improvs of South Florida\, Funny Bones in Hartford\, Connecticut\, and toured with Comic’s Rock Tour giving performances in Washington\, DC\, Virginia Beach\, and Staten Island. Recently she was selected as one of the Top 40 comedians and will be competing in the World Series of Comedy\, and was a runner-up at Ultimate Miami Comedian as well as in Florida’s Funniest Females comedy competition. \nJay GuyJay Guy is a South Florida Native originally born in Homestead on a military base. After dabbling in the fields of retail\, real estate\, and prehospital care\, he is making his run at standup comedy. Recently he placed top 3 in the entire state for Florida’s Funniest Comedian competition. With an original style that has been described as “laid back” and “smooth”. Jay’s likability allows him to push boundaries that have been deemed as taboo while also relating his comedy to everyday experiences. His imaginative observations will have you laughing out loud and in your heart. \nJim PattersonJim Patterson left Las Vegas to pursue comedy in South Florida when he was two years old. It only took him 70 years to figure that out. Jim’s material is sourced from a lifetime of laughter with his wife Mary\, his children and grandkids. Jim’s quick wit and unique perspective on aging make him a crowd favorite. \nWant to save on tickets?  Build your own package\, the more shows you add\, the more you save! SUMMARY:Baseball Dreams
DESCRIPTION:“What if Works’ first “dramatic curation”\, Baseball Dreams\, is taken from a mesmerizing collection of short stories by former Miami Herald journalist and Cuban American novelist Ana Menendez\nFriday\, 13 September 2019 8PM Saturday\, 14 September 2019 8PM \nSeminole Theatre\n18 N. Krome Avenue\, Homestead\, FL\, US\n  \n\n\n \n“What if Works’ first “dramatic curation”\, Baseball Dreams\, is taken from a mesmerizing collection of short stories\, by former Miami Herald journalist and Cuban American novelist Ana Menendez; “In Cuba I was a German Shepherd”. The two-part story explores the phenomenon of parallel dreams with Part I taking place in 1935 as The Daughter recalls her nine-year old father’s relentless dream of becoming a future DiMaggio of the Cuban National League. \nUnable to accept his own failings the Boy’s dream breaks apart\, contributing to devastating consequences. Part II takes place in 1965 in which his nine-year old Daughter and her Mother\, wait patiently by the seashore for his visit. They become unwitting spectators to the antics of two boys in the midst of a competitive pitching battle. After watching the thrills\, spills and dangers generated by the boys the Girl is consumed with a dream that one day she\, like the boys\, will be able to play baseball. \nBaseball Dreams is a simple\, elegiac story\, a parable filled with human conflict and compassion. Through its “dramatic curation” What if Works seeks to sustain the author’s work from the page\, word-for-word while delivering an indelible experience through the intersection of spoken word\, drama\, music\, movement and video. \n In conjunction with “Baseball Dreams” and in partnership with the Miami Dade Public Schools and the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts What if Works will offer a series of writing and adaptation workshops in middle and high schools the results of which will be seen in the “Literary Stage & Screen Youth Festival in June 2020. \nTickets are also available at the Seminole Theatre box office\, 786-650-2073 or 18 N Krome Ave\, Homestead\, FL (Tues-Sat 12-6pm) \n  \nAll sales are final. There are no refunds for any reason except event cancellation. \n \n  \nPlease note: This production\, meeting or event is not presented or produced by the Seminole Theatre\, Pinnacle Venue Services or the City of Homestead. SUMMARY:STP Aladdin Jr Registration
DESCRIPTION:Register for Aladdin Jr\nAugust 31 – November 24\, 2019\nSeminole Theatre\n18 North Krome Avenue\, Homestead\, FL\, US\n  \n\n\n \nSponsored by CJ Aviation  \nDoes your child dream of taking center stage? Now is the time to make those dreams come true. \nThe Friends of the Historic Seminole Theatre are proud to announce the formation of The Junior Players\, a theater conservatory program providing training and performance opportunities for young people. Kids of ages 9-16 can now register for our spring production of Disney’s The Lion King Jr. \nDisney’s Aladdin JR. is based on the 1992 Academy Award®-winning film and the 2014 hit Broadway show about the “diamond in the rough” street rat who learns that his true worth lies deep within. \nThe story you know and love has been given the royal treatment! Aladdin and his three friends\, Babkak\, Omar\, and Kassim\, are down on their luck until Aladdin discovers a magic lamp and the Genie who has the power to grant three wishes. Wanting to earn the respect of the princess\, Jasmine\, Aladdin embarks on an adventure that will test his will and his moral character.  \nIn the Junior Players production\, students will have the opportunity to take on one of the famous roles in the Aladdin Jr. The students will rehearse every Saturday with our theatre professionals\, learning acting\, singing\, choreography and stagecraft\, and then perform the full show to the public on the Seminole Theatre mainstage. \nThe rehearsals will be every Saturday\, August 31 through November 17\, 2019 from 9:00am – 3:30pm at the Seminole Theatre. We also expect the students to be available every evening for tech rehearsals 11/18/19-11/21/19\, and for the three to four performances 11/22/19-11/24/19(Friday and Saturday evenings\, Sunday afternoon plus a possible Saturday afternoon). \nNo experience required! The Jr. Players are open to all who wish to be involved. Auditions will be held on the first rehearsal day\, and parts will be assigned for the production. Not every student can play a lead role\, but every student will be an integral part of a fun production and have a fantastic learning experience. \nThe full tution cost is $750 to cover the directors and instructors\, plus any costumes\, props or specialty makeup needed for the show (other than shoes and basic undergarments). HOWEVER\, EVERY student is eligible for a $450 scholarship thanks to the Friends of the Historic Seminole Theatre\, simply by filling out a statement “What Theater Means to Me”. \nThere are additional scholarships provided by the Ocean Reef Foundation on a financial need-based basis. These scholarships will cover the full tuition\, and all that is required is a $50 security deposit to ensure attendance. \nLunch is not provided\, students will need to bring lunches (a refrigerator and microwave are available). \nTo register\, please check out on Eventbrite below\, or call or visit the Seminole Theatre box office at 18 N Krome Ave\, Homestead\, FL 786-650-2073. We will need a $100 deposit to secure the spot\, and the balance will be due prior to the first day of rehearsal on August 31st.. \nSPACE IS LIMITED TO 40 PARTICIPANTS! Make sure to reserve your spot.  Deposits are non-refundable. Only accepting ages 9-16. \nFor questions or additional information\, please contact the Seminole Theatre Players at 786-650-2073 or seminoletheatreplayers@gmail.com . We are also looking for volunteers to help with rehearsals\, costumes\, sets\, and backstage during performances. SUMMARY:The not so Little Prince presented by The Opera Atelier
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wondered what happened to the Little Prince? You will learn all about it in The not so Little Prince\, the premiere production of the NEW one-act opera based on the story of The Little Prince.\nSaturday\, 20 July 2019 7 PM\nSeminole Theatre\n18 N. Krome Avenue\, Homestead\, FL\, US\n   \n\n\n \nHave you ever wondered what happened to the Little Prince? \nYou will learn all about it in The not so Little Prince\, the premiere production of the NEW one-act opera based on the story of The Little Prince. In this updated version\, the young Prince visits familiar and new worlds. A full production performed by children and youngsters from The Opera Atelier MOZ-Art Program. Libretto by Daniel Daroca and music by Waldo Díaz\, takes us a journey through space and time. \n“A quirky story has long been circulated about The Little Prince. Thinking that it was a true story\, people took the trouble of translating it. The book came to be published in many languages and became so popular that the copies would fly off the shelves. Well intentioned people would acquire the book and treasure it. They would have a good cry while reading it and then share it with their children\, some of whom cried even more. So\, little by little\, the legend of The Little Prince spread to all corners of the Earth\, accompanied by sighs and tears. Armed with a silly picture and a few provisions\, throngs of enthusiasts of the story crisscrossed the Sahara in search of that mysterious place where the Prince had supposedly returned to his home planet\, hoping to catch a glimpse of the youth- should he ever decide to come back to the same spot. Of course\, many perished in this useless trek\, and most of the few survivors never read another book. \nBut rather than correcting the famous account\, here is the true story of one of The Little Prince’s journeys\, as told by the Prince himself. It is the tale of one of those run of the mill days when he goes planet hopping for the afternoon and is back home in time for an early dinner and a stroll.” \nAnd\, look around! Who knows if the globetrotting Prince himself is not here tonight\, catching the performance of his very own opera?” \nExtracted from the foreword to the new opera The not so Little Prince\, by Daniel Daroca. \nWebsite: www.theoperaatelier.org \nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/theoperaatelier/ \nTickets are also available at the Seminole Theatre box office\, 786-650-2073 or 18 N Krome Ave\, Homestead\, FL (Tues-Sat 12-6pm) \n \nAll sales are final. Growing up with a hard working\, and always quirky\, Cuban family brought loads of funny moments everyday. From his mother’s ability to kill a chicken with her bare hands\, to his Dad’s ability to hit on any woman\, anytime\, there was never a dull moment.
