Krome Avenue\, Homestead\, FL\, US\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCelebrate the National Parks Centennial Year with Homestead Center for the Arts on Friday\, October 21\, 2016 at 7 PM in the Seminole Theatre. \n\nHomestead is proud to be the Gateway to Biscayne and Everglades National Parks\, two of the crown jewels of America’s 59 national parks. \n\n\n\n\nWe are bringing you a special evening. This unique concert\, performed by the Chance Ensemble\, was created for the Centennial Year. It has been presented to over thirty National Parks Associations. Listen to the words of John Muir\, the same words that inspired President Theodore Roosevelt to create the National Park Service. The pieces were composed especially for this presentation. The brisk violin of Liesel Wilson compliments the original cello works of Ed Willet and the ethereal soprano of Cheryl Leah. The Seminole Theatre\, in partnership with WLRN Radio Theatre and Arts Radio Network Theatre Project\, presents a pair of popular science fiction stories brought to life on stage\, sure to thrill science fiction lovers of all ages! \nThese performances are accurate recreations of the live radio plays from the golden age of radio\, with professional actors performing multiple roles and utilizing authentic sound effect devices. These plays are very interactive\, with the audience providing many of the sound effects themselves! Each event will include a post-show Talk back session\, where the audience can ask questions about the play\, its history and the production. In addition\, our friends at the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium are providing us with Science Fiction vs. Science Facts for each show program\, written by their expert education team. The Seminole Theatre\, in partnership with WLRN Radio Theatre and Arts Radio Network Theatre Project\, presents a pair of popular science fiction stories brought to life on stage\, sure to thrill science fiction lovers of all ages! \nThese performances are accurate recreations of the live radio plays from the golden age of radio\, with professional actors performing multiple roles and utilizing authentic sound effect devices. These plays are very interactive\, with the audience providing many of the sound effects themselves! Each event will include a post-show Talk back session\, where the audience can ask questions about the play\, its history and the production. In addition\, our friends at the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium are providing us with Science Fiction vs. Science Facts for each show program\, written by their expert education team. They’re sure to spark your curiosity! \nOn Sunday\, October 30\, 1938 millions of radio listeners were shocked when radio news alerts announced the arrival of Martians. They panicked when they learned the Martians’ ferocious and seemingly unstoppable attack on Earth. Many ran out of their homes screaming while others packed up their cars and fled. \nThough what the radio listeners heard was a portion of the Mercury Theatre on the Air production of Orson Welles” adaptation of the well-known book\, War of the Worlds by H. G. Wells\, many of the listeners believed what they heard on the radio was real. Simply RSVP for your seat for this amazing performance.\n\nBased in Miami\, Nu Deco Ensemble is a virtuosic and eclectic chamber orchestra designed for the 21st century. Through exciting and adventurous classical music performances\, Nu Deco Ensemble presents various styles of music\, art\, and media collaborations in both traditional and alternative venues. \n\nWorking in conjunction with local musicians\, composers\, DJs\, dancers\, visual and media artists\, Nu Deco Ensemble creates a new hybrid of compelling musical and multi-media experiences. Blending masterful musicianship with a wide range of repertoire from classical to pop\, Nu Deco Ensemble strives to be South Florida’s leader in genre-bending musical exploration. \nNu Deco Ensemble cultivates the education and development of tomorrow’s artists through digital and interactive educational performances\, young composer readings\, musician workshops\, as well as master-classes and competitions for youth. Through outreach\, Nu Deco Ensemble aims to engage the community and present concerts for free to Miami’s multi-cultural neighborhoods where exposure to live classical performance may be limited. The group shares their military and Veteran experiences to raise awareness of veteran’s issues and promote Post-Traumatic Growth. \nThe Seminole Theatre has partnered with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4127\, and every Premium Ticket ($47) purchased for the Combat Hippies will sponsor a Military Veteran to see “Conscience Under Fire” and attend a talk-back after the show with the group. \nLed by world renowned theater artist and director Teo Castellanos and backed by one of Miami’s most well-known DJ’s\, Brimstone 127\, The Combat Hippies are a group of military veteran performing artists. The group’s core members consist of Hipolito “Beardman” Arriaga\, Anthony “I.E.D.” Torres\, Allen “Tatsel” Minor\, and Andrew “Dru Phoenix” Cuthbert. \nThe Combat Hippies were born as a result of the MDC Live Arts’ season-long veterans’ initiative in which they shared their experiences in an original spoken word piece as part of the O\, Miami Poetry Festival. If you want to select your own seat please visit our website via a Desktop computer. \n\n\n\n\n \n\nFlying Solo II-UK offers “Manicomio” written and performed by Allyn Moriyon about the Italian playwright Luigi Pirandello\, “Geli and Uncle Alf” written by Pia Vicioso-Vila about Hitler’s first niece and love\, Geli Raubal and “Warmth of the Sun” written and performed by Erik Rodriguez\, about the life of Brian Wilson\, member of the 60s Beach Boys. Following ots Homestead performance this show will travel to the UK where I will tour three cities The project not only offers a series of self-written and acted solo performance works. Through a collaboration with social agencies in the US and UK WIW will offer free\, three-day workshops for low-income “at risk” youth in which the experience of the solo performance process and the exploration of other lives will lead to the awareness of deeper selfhood.
