SUMMARY:Homestead Center For The Arts presents Chance Ensemble "John Muir - University of the Wilderness"
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, 21 October 2016 7:00 – 9:00\nSeminole Theatre\n18 N. Krome Avenue\, Homestead\, FL\, US\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCelebrate the National Parks Centennial Year with Homestead Center for the Arts on Friday\, October 21\, 2016 at 7 PM in the Seminole Theatre.   \n\nHomestead is proud to be the Gateway to Biscayne and Everglades National Parks\, two of the crown jewels of America’s 59 national parks. \n\n\n\n\nWe are bringing you a special evening. This unique concert\, performed by the Chance Ensemble\, was created for the Centennial Year. It has been presented to over thirty National Parks Associations. Listen to the words of John Muir\, the same words that inspired President Theodore Roosevelt to create the National Park Service. The pieces were composed especially for this presentation. The brisk violin of Liesel Wilson compliments the original cello works of Ed Willet and the ethereal soprano of Cheryl Leah. Ensemble member and actor\, Thomas Clyde Mitchell\, recites Muir’s poetry and provides Celtic percussion\, fresh from John Muir’s native Scotland\, giving the group a distinctive Scottish flavor. \nChance has opened for Little Feat\, Willie Nelson\, Leo Kottke\, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band\, Rickie Lee Jones and others but feels most comfortable with an intimate audience shaped by the Park Service mission. \nTo view a video of the NPR interview with Chance go to homesteadcenterforthearts.com and click on the Chance banner. \n \nTickets and information are also available at the Seminole Theatre box office\, 786-650-2073 or at 18 N Krome Ave\, Homestead\, FL. The box office is open Tuesday-Saturday 12:00-6:00pm. \n\nDisclaimer: This production\, meeting or event is not presented or produced by the Seminole Theatre\, Pinnacle Venue Services or the City of Homestead.  The Seminole Theatre acts as a rental venue for events for groups with varying opinions and beliefs. SUMMARY:Country Night Featuring Sammy Kershaw
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, 14 October 2016 8:00PM\nSeminole Theatre\n18 N. Krome Avenue\, Homestead\, FL\, US\n\n  \n\n\n \n\nCountry Night Featuring Sammy Kershaw\nCountry Night Returns to the Seminole Theatre\, complete with award winning country artists\, line dancing and lip-smacking BBQ food. \nHeadlining Country Night this year is Sammy Kershaw. Since his debut on the music scene in the early 90’s\, Kershaw has remained one of the most consistent power hitters in country music—both with a chain of major hit records and sell-out touring schedules. \nSammy Kershaw’s plan for country music is re-claiming its roots and recapturing the spirit that made it great “Man\, for someone like me who had George Jones’ music imprinted in my DNA before birth\, the last few years have been rough as a fan of country music\,” noted Kershaw candidly in a recent national interview. “Country music is not a formula…it’s a music with its own soul…and I’m all about saving that soul!” Kershaw’s current album “Honkytonk Boots” promises to be a much-anticipated first step in that plan of salvation. \nAlso performing is local country star Jade Sanders. Nashville recording artist Jade Sanders is a 17 yr old singer/songwriter from Homestead\, FL. For more information about Jade & to listen to her music you can visit her website at www.jadesanders.net. \nMake sure to register for FREE Line Dancing class at 6:00pm.  Learn custom dances to some of Sammy Kershaw’s own songs that you will hear later in the concert. Add the line dance class option when checking out for your tickets (If you already purchased\, contact the box office to be added to the list.) \n\n\n\n \nTickets and information are also available at the Seminole Theatre box office\, 786-650-2073 or at 18 N Krome Ave\, Homestead\, FL. Named Music Row Magazine’s 2014 Breakthrough Artist of the Year after her debut album 12 Stories was named the best album of 2013 by New York Magazine\, NPR\, The New York Post\, and The Boston Globe. Clark has garnered nominations for the 2015 CMA Awards\, ACM Awards and Grammy Awards\, and won the Country Music Association award for Song of the Year for co-writing the hit “Follow Your Arrow”. \n“Ain’t we all the stars playing the leading part in our own soap opera?” Brandy Clark belts out that question to kick off Big Day in a Small Town\, positing the premise of not just the opening track (“Soap Opera”)\, but all 10 songs that follow it. The towns that anchor Clark’s new album may be small enough to warrant only a single blinking light\, but the lives lived in them are anything but… and neither are the hopes and dreams that rise from their backroads and bedrooms. \nWhen you grow up in a small town\, oftentimes\, your dreams are all you have. Whether it’s to become a football star or a father\, a homecoming queen or a hairdresser\, your dreams might be the only thing that keep you going. For Clark\, the dream she harbored in her small hometown of Morton\, Washington\, was to be a country singer. Sure\, once she moved to Nashville\, she had successful cuts as a songwriter [The Band Perry’s “Better Dig Two\,” Miranda Lambert’s “Mama’s Broken Heart\,” and Kacey Musgraves’ “Follow Your Arrow” which won the CMA Song of the Year Award in 2014]\, but being an artist in her own right was a dream she had stopped dreaming until three years ago when her first album\, the stunning 12 Stories\, debuted. \nAt the time\, it was a passion project\, more than anything… a passion project that went on to become a GRAMMY- and CMA-nominated release that topped a myriad of “Best Albums of 2013” lists; earn her opening slots on tours with Eric Church\, Jennifer Nettles\, and Alan Jackson; land her performances onThe Ellen DeGeneres Show \, Good Morning America\, The Late Show with David Letterman\, and a much-talked about collaboration with Dwight Yoakam on the 2015 GRAMMY Awards in recognition of her nomination in the all-genre Best New Artist category; and win her a Warner Bros. Records deal. Now\, as she gears up for her sophomore set\, the alternately feisty and poignant Big Day in a Small Town\, Clark has much higher hopes. \nOpening Act: Levon \nLevon’s lead singer and guitarist Michael Hall remembers his father listening to country and 70’s rock bands and thinking\, “This is the kind of music people want to get back to\, music I want to get back to. Honest lyrics and memorable melodies. Hopefully our music speaks to that\,” he says. With influences like Pure Prairie League\, CSN\, Keith Urban and The Eagles\, Levon’s sound is a combination of “Then” and “Now”.  \nIn 2013\, Michael Hall was in Los Angeles working with songwriter/producer Jamie Houston. Michael and Jamie quickly discovered each others love for three part harmony and decided to explore the possibilities. One night in early 2014\, Hall\, and Jake Singleton happened to be playing with different bands at the same venue in Franklin\, TN. “Finding others with the same focus was proving to be difficult\,” Hall says. \n*Ticket prices include a $2 facility fee. \n\n\nOrganizer: Seminole Theatre \n\n\n\nOpen Brandy Clark at Eventbrite.com \n\n \n\nKeep in touch with Brandy… \n\nAll sales are final.
