SUMMARY:Driving Miss Daisy - Fri\, Nov 3 8:00pm
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, 3 November 2017 20:00 – 22:00\nSeminole Theatre\n18 N. Krome Avenue\, Homestead\, FL\, US\n\n  \n\n\nWHAT IF WORKS\npresents\nDRIVING MISS DAISY\nby Alfred Uhry\n“Isn’t it wonderful the way things are changing” remarks the retired German-Jewish teacher Daisy Werthan to her African-American chauffeur\, Hoke Coleman in response to the whirlwind transformations taking place between the 50s and 60s. Hoke’s response is short and to the point; “Things changin’\, but they ain’t change all that much.” \nLooking at the deeply divided world in which we live today Hoke’s words are chillingly resonant. Written in 1985\, Daisy’s life spans from 1876 to 1973. On stage we see only her last twenty-five years. It is no accident that Uhry chose to begin the action in 1948\, a time when the status quo and comfortable middleclass values became challenged by a generation that would soon reject materialism in search of peace\, love and understanding. This was a time when prejudice and racial inequality were being brought to the surface and examined in the cold light of day. The past was no longer a place to hide and accountability came knocking on the door with intrepid insistence.  \nWhat if Works is proud to present this landmark play at the historic Seminole Theatre in Homestead featuring a stellar cast of local resident actors with Harriet Devine as Daisy Werthan\, Nimmond Lockheart as her chauffeur\, Hoke Coleman and Chris Coppolo as Daisy’s son\, Boolie. \nThese tickets are for Friday\, November 3rd at 8:00pm ONLY.  To select another performance\, please go HERE \n \n \n<iframe width=”728″ height=”410″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/KbhOG7HuHL0?autoplay=1&rel=0″ frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe> \n \nTickets and information are also available at the Seminole Theatre box office\, 786-650-2073 or at 18 N Krome Ave\, Homestead\, FL. It took 23 years for us to open our doors again. We were spared by Hurricane Irma\, but many of our friends in the Florida Keys\, the west coast of Florida and the Caribbean were not. So we have teamed up with John Popper\, Lorenzo Ford\, and The Rotary Club of Homestead to create a benefit concert to help the Florida Keys recover. Proceeds from the concert and fundraiser will go to the Rotary Clubs of the lower keys and the United Way of the Florida Keys\, where 100% of proceeds will go directly to those who need it. \n \nSo join us for a night of great music\, for a great cause! \nFind out more about the United Way of the Florida Keys Hurricane Irma fund here http://www.keysunitedway.org/ \nFind out more about the Rotary Club of Homestead here http://homesteadrotary.org/ \n \n\nJOHN POPPER\, the iconic\, charismatic lead singer of Blues Traveler\, the popular rock and jam band from the 1990’s celebrating their 30th anniversary this fall\, brings his harmonica and bandmate Ben Wilson\, on piano\, to share AN EVENING WITH BLUES TRAVELER’S JOHN POPPER – THE HITS. THE STORIES. THE EXPERIENCE. \n Using his harmonica designed uniquely by Fender and his legendary voice\, Popper entertains with an evening of classic Blues Traveler’s tunes\, “Run Around\,” “Hook\,” and “But Anyway\,” breaking down the hits and sharing the stories from his long and successful colorful career\, from the formation of Blues Traveler\, his relationship with H.O.R.D.E Festival\, all the way to his involvement with the Grateful Dead. \n    Popper is widely considered a virtuoso\, thought to be the greatest harmonica player in rock music. Formed in 1987\, Blues Traveler has platinum and gold albums to their credit. Over their 30 year illustrious career\, Popper has been the voice on more than 10 million albums and 2000 live shows in front of 30 million people. “Run-Around” is the longest-charting radio single in Billboard history and earned them a Grammy. SUMMARY:Gallery Night - Carlos Franco
DESCRIPTION:Monday\, 28 August 2017 6:30 – 8:30\nSeminole Theatre\n18 North Krome Avenue\, Homestead\, FL\, US\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Historic Seminole Theatre provides a hub for all the arts\, not just the performing arts. The new gallery space in the Seminole Theatre lobby celebrates fine and visual arts and promotes local artists. \nThe Artist in the Spotlight program (formerly known as “Art in the Chambers”) was created in 2010 by Councilman Shelley to highlight the talents of local artists and allow them to showcase their artwork to the local community. Councilman Shelley is an avid photographer himself and has a passion for the arts. “I know how hard it can be to promote and market your work as an artist\, and I wanted to create a program that would help our local artist publicize their work and advance their careers. I also wanted to help promote art in general and art education within our Homestead community” said Councilman Shelley. \nOn Monday\, August 29\, the Seminole Theatre will open its doors to the public for a Gallery Night at the Seminole. From 6:30-8:30 pm\, guests are welcome to browse the artwork on display\, meet the featured artist\, and enjoy wine and cheese. \nThe featured artist for August – September 2017 is artist Carlos Franco. His series of paintings are all oils on canvas\, He profoundly enjoys the challenge of recreating a person’s essence\, while leaving the audience the desire to decipher the mysteries of the life of another human being\, who could actually be a real person very much alive\, or just somebody that is a fruit of his imagination.  \nCarlos Franco invites viewers to speculate based on their own concepts of beauty\, poetry and even seduction. Carlos Franco says “This project has always been grounded in pleasure and aesthetics”. \nAs a special treat\, you will also be able to see the art made by the Children’s Art Gallery artists.Natalie M PrietoJalen CooperEva AlmeidaAna WhelanNoslen De LaPuenteMelanie Ceballos \nFormer participants of the program found the exposure to be invaluable. South Florida National Parks Camera Club\, featured artists of July-August 2015\, President Jason Eldridge says\, “There are few venues available for clubs to show the work of members; we are grateful for this opportunity to allow our photographers to share their art with the community.” Past participants include: Robert L. Chaplin\, Paul Marcellini\, Luis Núñez\, Brian Trainor\, Jessica M. Ujaque\, Angeline Marie Martinez\, The Children’s Gallery and Arts Center\, ArtSouth\, Caryl Alarcón\, Jesus Marquez\, Teresa Slomko\, Artist-in-Residence-in-Everglades (AIRIE)\, Suzanne Moe\, Marcela Noriega\, Marcia Maynard\, Lillian Marlatt\, Mimi Dickson\, Mary Dee Burkhart\, Ruth Campbell\, Carol McGunagle\, and South Florida National Parks Camera Club. \nThe installation at the Seminole Theatre was made possible in large part due to a donation from the Friends of the Historic Seminole Theatre. A non-profit founded in 1997 with the goal of restoring the then vacant and dilapidated Seminole Theatre\, the “Friends” now work diligently to maintain the Theatre’s architectural history and community contribution. \nIf you are interested in participating or know of a local artist in the area from Broward\, Dade or Monroe Counties\, please contact Councilman Shelley’s office at (305) 224-4447 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..” style=”color: #000000;”>mwells@cityofhomestead.com. Artists who live within or near the City of Homestead will be given preference over those who live further away. \n \nTickets and information are also available at the Seminole Theatre box office\, 786-650-2073 or at 18 N Krome Ave\, Homestead\, FL. SUMMARY:Miss Cuarenta de Paula Arcila
Estamos abiertos Martes-Sabado 12:00-6:00pm. \n\nOpen Miss Cuarenta de Paula Arcila at Eventbrite.com \n\n\n\nAll sales are final. There are no refunds for any reason except event cancellation.
