Featuring original music by Tony- and eight-time Oscar winner\, Alan Menken (Newsies\, Beauty and the Beast\, Little Shop of Horrors)\, this uplifting musical was nominated for five Tony Awards\, including Best Musical. \nWhen disco diva\, Deloris Van Cartier\, witnesses a murder\, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won’t be a found: a convent! Disguised as a nun\, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir\, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but\, in doing so\, blows her cover. Soon\, the gang is giving chase\, only to find them up against Deloris and the power of her newly found sisterhood. \nFilled with powerful gospel music\, outrageous dancing and a truly moving story\, Sister Act will leave audiences breathless! A sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship\, Sister Act is reason to REJOICE! We are looking for both singers and dancers for this production.  \nCAST BREAKDOWN\n Audition Guidelines For open calls: \nPlease prepare 16 -32 measures of an upbeat song or ballad in your key (less than a minute). Choose a piece that you are comfortable with and one that shows off your strengths. You will need to sing with an accompaniment track. We will provide a speaker that you can Bluetooth your phone to and will allow you time to test the volume before you sing. Many tracks are available on Youtube\, but since internet is a little spotty in our audition room we encourage you to download or screen record your accompaniment so you don’t need internet reception.  Memorization of your vocal excerpt is strongly encouraged since it is difficult to see the emotion in your face if you are reading off a paper/screen.  Everyone auditioning will be required to do a vocal audition as well as participate in the dance call.   \n For the dance call\, make sure to wear clothes and shoes you can move and turn in.  There will be a warm-up to start with and you may be on the ground for that.  You will have time to change clothes between vocal audition and dance call if you so choose.  \n Headshots and resumes are not required but we will take them if you have them. DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Miss South Florida Scholarship Program is a voluntary organization dedicated to offering scholarship opportunities to young ladies between the ages of 14- 28 years in the South Florida Community. We are dedicated to helping all young women to succeed as they pursue their dreams of higher education.  In addition\, we are extremely proud to be part of the Miss America Organization\, which contributes to many leading achievement programs and is one the world’s largest provider of scholarship assistance for women. \nAt The Miss South Florida Scholarship competition\, you will see Misses and Teens compete in different categories for scholarships and titles.  The winners will move on to compete at the state level\, Miss Florida\, and Miss Florida Teen in June. We are looking for both singers and dancers for this production.  \nCAST BREAKDOWN\n Audition Guidelines For open calls: \nPlease prepare 16 -32 measures of an upbeat song or ballad in your key (less than a minute). Choose a piece that you are comfortable with and one that shows off your strengths. You will need to sing with an accompaniment track. We will provide a speaker that you can Bluetooth your phone to and will allow you time to test the volume before you sing. Many tracks are available on Youtube\, but since internet is a little spotty in our audition room we encourage you to download or screen record your accompaniment so you don’t need internet reception.  Memorization of your vocal excerpt is strongly encouraged since it is difficult to see the emotion in your face if you are reading off a paper/screen.  Everyone auditioning will be required to do a vocal audition as well as participate in the dance call.   \n For the dance call\, make sure to wear clothes and shoes you can move and turn in.  There will be a warm-up to start with and you may be on the ground for that.  You will have time to change clothes between vocal audition and dance call if you so choose.  \n Headshots and resumes are not required but we will take them if you have them. Kids of ages 8-16 can now register for our spring production of Mean Girls. \nMean Girls\, the brutally hilarious musical from book writer Tina Fey (30 Rock)\, lyricist Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde) and composer Jeff Richmond (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt). This queen bee took Broadway by storm and has joined the musical in-crowd. Adapted from Fey’s hit 2004 film\, Mean Girls was nominated for a staggering 12 Tony Awards.  \nCady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna\, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois. How will this naïve newbie rise to the top of the popularity pecking order? By taking on The Plastics\, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. But when Cady devises a plan to end Regina’s reign\, she learns the hard way that you can’t cross a queen bee without getting stung. \nThe rehearsals will be every Saturday\, Feb 8 – May 4\, 2025 from 9:00am – 4:00pm at the Seminole Theatre (this may also include Friday evening rehearsals). We also expect the students to be available every evening for tech rehearsals April 29 – May 4\, and for the three performances May 2 -4 (Friday and Saturday evenings\, Sunday afternoon). \nNo experience required! The Jr. Players are open to all who wish to be involved. Auditions will be held on the first rehearsal day\, and parts will be assigned for the production. Not every student can play a lead role\, but every student will be an integral part of a fun production and have a fantastic learning experience. \nThe cost to participate is $500 per student. This covers the directors and instructors\, plus any costumes\, props or specialty makeup needed for the show (other than shoes and basic undergarments). This has fee has been greatly underwritten thanks to the Friends of the Historic Seminole Theatre. Its director Valia Gonzalez is a former ballerina with National Ballet of Cuba and former teacher with Miami City Ballet School in the disciplines of Ballet and European Character Dances. The school offers a professional ballet training making a special emphasis in technique. Miami Cuban Ballet School programs provide young students with the tools to acquire a solid ballet foundation\, artistry\, discipline\, and respect. Our professional faculty has a vast experience in preparing serious dancers for renowned ballet competitions\, magnet programs and college dance programs \n  \nPurchase Tickets – December 8th\n  \nTickets are also available at the Box Office Thurs-Sat 12pm-6pm  \nAll sales are final.
