Now is the time to make those dreams come true. \nThe Friends of the Historic Seminole Theatre are proud to announce another Junior Players production. The theater conservatory program provides training and performance opportunities for young people. Kids of ages 9-16 can now register for our spring production of Once on this island Jr. \nAn island of storytellers come together to tell a story of love\, bravery\, and strength…the story of the peasant girl\, Ti Moune. An orphan\, chosen by the Gods\, is taken into a simple and loving family\, Though content\, she feels like she was destined for something more. After a terrible accident caused by a wicked storm\, Ti Moune falls for a handsome\, ailing\, stranger whom she tries desperately to nurse back to health. She bargains with the Gods for his life\, but to do so she must make the ultimate sacrifice. This sets our young peasant girl on the ultimate quest to answer the age old question\, can love conquer death? \nThe rehearsals will be every Saturday\, January 21\, 2023 from 8:30am – 5:30pm at the Seminole Theatre. Plan to bring a snack and lunch during every rehearsal. We also expect the students to be available every evening for tech rehearsals 04/17/23- 04/20/22\, and for the three performances 04/21/23-04/23/23(Friday and Saturday evenings\, Sunday afternoon). \nNo experience required! The Jr. Players are open to all who wish to be involved. Auditions will be held on the first rehearsal day\, and parts will be assigned for the production. Not every student can play a lead role\, but every student will be an integral part of a fun production and have a fantastic learning experience. \nThe full tution cost is $750 to cover the directors and instructors\, plus any costumes\, props or specialty makeup needed for the show (other than shoes and basic undergarments).  \n​Scholarships: \nWe have half scholarships available thanks to the Friends of the Historic Seminole. Scholarships will be given on a financial need basis. For the first time we will also have scholarships available based on Merit. Applicants will be asked to submit a 60 sec video of the child singing. To be considered for a scholarship email katheriner@seminoletheatre.org\, in the subject line specify if you are applying for a financial need scholarship or a merit scholarship. \nAll applicants will be asked to pay the $100 deposit\, the remining balance will be due a week before camp starts\,  \nLunch and snack are not provided\, students will need to bring lunches and snacks (a refrigerator and microwave are available). \nTo register visit www.seminoletheatre.org\, or call or visit the Seminole Theatre box office at 18 N Krome Ave\, Homestead\, FL 786-650-2073. We are a group of professional musicians dedicated to the Mariachi music Folklore. Together we have more than 25 years of experience traveling through Mexico\, Latin America and some cities in the US. We have been at the height of important events in Miami accompanying different artists as part of a musical framework\, among them; Luis Miguel\, Alejandro Fernandez\, Pepe Aguilar\, Marco Antonio Solís\, Plácido Domingo\, Marc Anthony\, Raul DiBlasio and many more. Marvelous things will happen when you watch the story of Jane Elizabeth Trotter\, a young girl forced to live with her two cruel aunts: Spiker and Sponge\, in a broken home in the south of England. When a mysterious man shows up one day and gives her a magical bag filled with enchanted crocodile tongues (ew!)\, giant peaches bloom from dead trees\, tiny insects become human-sized talking and dancing companions\, and wishes for a newer\, better life come true\, as Jane and her buggy family escape that dreary house on the hill to journey onward to the greatest city in the world: New York! This story is a hilarious experience that explores the infinite universe of childhood imagination\, love\, and newfound family. \nValyrian Bards Youth Theatre  \n(Loly Lopez | Artistic Director) \nValyrian Bards Youth Theatre was founded in 2018 at Pinecrest Glades Academy with the purpose of bringing an impactful and transformative experience for both young actors and the audience. \nAfter the breakout success of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (2022)\, Valyrian Bards returns to the Seminole Theatre with “Jane and the Giant Peach” (2023); an adaptation of Roald Dahl’s famous children’s book. The troupe has also produced Hamilton’s “My Shot” (2018)\, Seussical’s “Oh\, the Thinks You Can Think” (2018)\, “Alice in Wonderland: The Musical” (2019)\, “A Charlie Brown Christmas”(2020/Zoom)\, the adapted poem “I Am” (2020/Shanti Bhavan/Zoom)\, Elf the Musical’s “Sparklejollytwinklejingley” (2021)\,  A Christmas Carol’s “It Feels Like Christmas” (2022)\, and Moliere’s Tartuffe (2022-2023)- becoming a Superior awarded troupe at District and State levels during their first time competing.
