Krome Avenue\, Homestead\, FL\, US\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n“Muddy on The Waters” Tribute to Muddy Waters with The Nighthawks and Mud Morganfield. \n\nEnjoy this evening paying tribute to the father of modern Chicago blues\, featuring some of the artists who knew him best\, including his own son. \nThe Nighthawks \nThe original Nighthawks lineup solidified in mid-1974. The band opened many doors and forged many touring routes for their contemporaries. They opened show after show for Muddy Waters\, James Cotton and Carl Perkins\, and backed up and recorded with John Hammond and Pinetop Perkins.The current members bring decades of varied experience to the stage and studio. When Mark Stutso\, master of the deep groove\, joined The Nighthawks at the beginning of 2010\, the 21st-century version of the legendary American roots band was complete. With Paul Bell and Johnny Castle in the band for nearly a decade\, and founding father Mark Wenner the remaining original\, this team outshines all previous incarnations. \n Mud Morganfield \n Muddy Waters’ first born son\, Larry “Mud” Williams (born 1954)\, was raised by his mother and often heard the nicknames of “Muddy”\, “Muddy Jr.” and “Little Muddy”. But he prefers Mud Morganfield and it is fitting. It’s uncanny how much he looks and sounds like his dad. Mud is now ready to honor his pops and his music. “I started to sing to show the world that dad left me here. I love and am proud to sing his songs just like I love and will always be proud of him. I’m not Muddy Waters and I’m certainly not trying to be Muddy Waters. I’m Mud Morganfield. DESCRIPTION:Monday\, 23 January 2017 6:00 – 8:30\nSeminole Theatre\n18 North Krome Avenue\, Homestead\, FL\, US\n\n \n\nOn Monday\, January 23\, the Seminole Theatre will open its doors to the public for a Gallery Night at the Seminole. From 6:30-8:30pm\, guests are welcome to browse the artwork on display\, meet the featured artist\, and enjoy wine and cheese. \nThe featured artist for January – February 2017 is is Robert L. Chaplin. He considers Everglades his photographic playground. His passion for the Everglades is infectious. More than a fine art photographer\, he teaches nature photography and leads workshops in Everglades National Park\, is a founding director of the South Florida National Parks Camera Club\, a member of the South Florida National Parks Trust\, and a director with the Everglades Association. \nRobert L. Chaplin brings you images of a rare and precious region. The Everglades is a true one of a kind wonder that needs to be experienced to be appreciated. From fine art images found in the book to first time pieces created for this exhibit\, Robert shares what he sees and experiences during his expeditions in the Everglades and hopes it inspires the viewer to visit\, experience\, and protect the treasure in our backyard. \nFormer participants of the program found the exposure to be invaluable. South Florida National Parks Camera Club\, featured artists of July-August 2015\, President Jason Eldridge says\, “There are few venues available for clubs to show the work of members; we are grateful for this opportunity to allow our photographers to share their art with the community.” Past participants include: Robert L. Chaplin\, Paul Marcellini\, Luis Núñez\, Brian Trainor\, Jessica M. Ujaque\, Angeline Marie Martinez\, The Children’s Gallery and Arts Center\, ArtSouth\, Caryl Alarcón\, Jesus Marquez\, Teresa Slomko\, Artist-in-Residence-in-Everglades (AIRIE)\, Suzanne Moe\, Marcela Noriega\, Marcia Maynard\, Lillian Marlatt\, Mimi Dickson\, Mary Dee Burkhart\, Ruth Campbell\, Carol McGunagle\, and South Florida National Parks Camera Club. \nThe installation at the Seminole Theatre was made possible in large part due to a donation from the Friends of the Historic Seminole Theatre. A non-profit founded in 1997 with the goal of restoring the then vacant and dilapidated Seminole Theatre\, the “Friends” now work diligently to maintain the Theatre’s architectural history and community contribution. \nIf you are interested in participating or know of a local artist in the area from Broward\, Dade or Monroe Counties\, please contact Councilman Shelley’s office at (305) 224-4447 or mwells@cityofhomestead.com.
