Now is the time to make those dreams come true. \nThe Friends of the Historic Seminole Theatre are proud to announce the formation of The Junior Players\, a theater conservatory program providing training and performance opportunities for young people. Kids of ages 9-16 can now register for our spring production of Disney’s The Lion King Jr. \nDisney’s Aladdin JR. is based on the 1992 Academy Award®-winning film and the 2014 hit Broadway show about the “diamond in the rough” street rat who learns that his true worth lies deep within. \nThe story you know and love has been given the royal treatment! Aladdin and his three friends\, Babkak\, Omar\, and Kassim\, are down on their luck until Aladdin discovers a magic lamp and the Genie who has the power to grant three wishes. Wanting to earn the respect of the princess\, Jasmine\, Aladdin embarks on an adventure that will test his will and his moral character. \nIn the Junior Players production\, students will have the opportunity to take on one of the famous roles in the Aladdin Jr. The students will rehearse every Saturday with our theatre professionals\, learning acting\, singing\, choreography and stagecraft\, and then perform the full show to the public on the Seminole Theatre mainstage. \nThe rehearsals will be every Saturday\, August 31 through November 17\, 2019 from 9:00am – 3:30pm at the Seminole Theatre. We also expect the students to be available every evening for tech rehearsals 11/18/19-11/21/19\, and for the three to four performances 11/22/19-11/24/19(Friday and Saturday evenings\, Sunday afternoon plus a possible Saturday afternoon). \nNo experience required! The Jr. Players are open to all who wish to be involved. Auditions will be held on the first rehearsal day\, and parts will be assigned for the production. Not every student can play a lead role\, but every student will be an integral part of a fun production and have a fantastic learning experience. \nThe full tution cost is $750 to cover the directors and instructors\, plus any costumes\, props or specialty makeup needed for the show (other than shoes and basic undergarments). HOWEVER\, EVERY student is eligible for a $450 scholarship thanks to the Friends of the Historic Seminole Theatre\, simply by filling out a statement “What Theater Means to Me”. \nThere are additional scholarships provided by the Ocean Reef Foundation on a financial need-based basis. These scholarships will cover the full tuition\, and all that is required is a $50 security deposit to ensure attendance. \nLunch is not provided\, students will need to bring lunches (a refrigerator and microwave are available). \nTo register\, please check out on Eventbrite below\, or call or visit the Seminole Theatre box office at 18 N Krome Ave\, Homestead\, FL 786-650-2073. We will need a $100 deposit to secure the spot\, and the balance will be due prior to the first day of rehearsal on August 31st.. \nSPACE IS LIMITED TO 40 PARTICIPANTS!
