DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, 28 February 2019 6:00PM \nSeminole Theatre\n18 North Krome Avenue\, Homestead\, FL\, US\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn Thursday\, January 24th\, the Seminole Theatre will open its doors to the public for a Gallery Night at the Seminole. Starting at 6:00 pm\, guests are welcome to browse the artwork on display\, meet the featured artist\, and enjoy light Hors d’œuvres.\n\nThree of Homesteads finest artists have come together to exhibit their artwork at the Seminole theater during the months of February and March. This exhibit is part of the Mayor Stephen Shelley’s Spotlight program that features local artists and their work. \nThey call this exhibit “The People of Homestead”. All 3 artists live in Homestead. They are members of Homestead Center of the Arts. They were inspired by the Diversity of who the people of Homestead are. They have pulled together a show in a variety of mediums including\, Oils\, Acrylics\, watercolor\, ceramics\, and photography. It is a powerful show not only as portraiture\, but also in showing the diversity of the lives of the people who live here. \n\nThe oversized portrait oil paintings by Carlos Franco are dynamic and serve as a biography of the sitters life. The faces are road maps of all the experiences these people have lived. Carlos Franco is the Director of art at the not for profit Children’s Gallery here at Cauley square. He has an open studio there where he paints daily and conducts classes for everyone who wants to learn how to paint and sculpt. He studied art at the Academy of fine arts in Guayaquil\, Equador. Mercy college in NYC and Miami-Dade Community College. He is an award winning artist who has exhibited widely. He is an amazing asset to our art community.\n\nWilliam C. Bunce is a photographic artist. His Veteran portraits are true works of art. He is an award winning photographer . He is currently the photographer at the dept. of Veteran affairs in Miami. In the past he has worked as a photographer/visual information specialist for our government. This year his Vietnam Veteran portraits are wonderful. Their faces and their eyes tell a story of this war.  William received his BFA in Photography from University of South Alabama. We have many Veterans in our community. William’s art work honors them all. \n\nSusan Sorrentino retired here in the Homestead community 2 years ago from Miami Beach. She instantly fell in love with the agricultural community and created and exhibited her “Homestead Harvest” oil Paintings here last year. She says “it seemed logical to pull together this small group of artists to create this show for the community.” The diversity of the people who live here and call this home is overwhelming and inspirational. Susan has created a small group of art works in a variety of mediums. Her emphasis is more on who we are rather than what we look like. We are field workers. We are horse trainers\, We are natives of the everglades and even venture out into the black night to capture pythons! If you see Susan around town\, her first question to you is usually\, “How did you get here?”\nSusan has been an artist all of her life. She received her BFA from the Univ. of Florida. She lived in NYC. She is an award winning artist who has exhibited widely in Galleries from NYC to Miami. She traveled throughout the US as an outdoor art festival artist for 30 years. \n\n\nThe “People of Homestead” art show will open on the walls of the Seminole Theater on Krome ave Feb. 1st and run thru March 31st. A Meet and greet  artist reception with refreshments will be February 28th at 6 PM. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet three of Homesteads talented artists. The show can be seen during the box office hours Tuesdays thru Sunday and during all theater performances. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOrganizer: Seminole Theatre \n\n\n\nOpen Artist in the Spotlight— “People of Homestead” A community of Diversity art exhibit at Eventbrite.com \n\n\n\n\nAll orders carry a transaction fee. All sales are final unless the event is cancelled\, patrons would then get the choice of a refund\, credit or pick a different show. All patrons\, regardless of age\, must have a ticket. Lap seat tickets are available for select performances. All sales are final. There are no refunds for any reason except event cancellation.
