NASCAR Championship weekend is about to descend on Homestead.  Before it starts, join us at the Seminole Theatre for a night of laughs, racing, and maybe a couple beers.  

Join us Thursday, November 16 to see Will Ferrell in Talladega Nights, the comic tale of the roller-coaster career of NASCAR driver, Ricky Bobby, and his good-ol’-boy sidekick.

Directed by Adam McKay, featuring a cast including Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, Sacha Baron Cohen, Gary Cole, Michael Clarke Duncan

Tickets are $8 advance and $10 at the door. 

On Monday, October 23, the Seminole Theatre will open its doors to the public for a Gallery Night at the Seminole. From 6:30-8:30 pm, guests are welcome to browse the artwork on display, meet the featured artist, and enjoy wine and cheese.

This month’s featured artist is Mimi Dickson who’s award-winning merit has been acknowledged at a variety of different art shows, festivals, and Florida Atlantic University and Miami-Dade College. Mimi’s natural talent and the knowledge gained at the Massachusetts College of Art were heightened by taking part in many different workshops and by practicing a broad range of media. For this acclaimed artist, the paintings she makes seem to develop from her own thoughts, feelings, personal ideas, and experiences.

Join us, if you dare, for an evening of terror! Enjoy Halloween games and a costume contest at our theatre with a full bar and concessions for sale before watching Stephen King’s classic, IT (1990) on our brand new cinema projector! The fun starts at 7pm. Movie begins at 8pm. Must be 17 and over to enjoy this event. Children under 17 must be accompanied by an adult or guardian.

Stephen King’s IT (1990) (rated R): In 1960, seven pre-teen outcasts fight an evil demon who poses as a child-killing clown. Thirty years later, they reunite to stop the demon once and for all when it returns to their hometown.

Hotel Transylvania (rated PG): Welcome to Hotel Transylvania, Dracula’s lavish five-stake resort, where monsters and their families can live it up and no humans are allowed. One special weekend, Dracula (Adam Sandler) has invited all his best friends – Frankenstein and his wife, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, the Werewolf family, and more – to celebrate his beloved daughter Mavis’s (Selena Gomez) 118th birthday. For Dracula, catering to all of these legendary monsters is no problem but the party really starts when one ordinary guy stumbles into the hotel and changes everything!

Hurricane Irma Benefit Concert featuring Blues Traveler’s John Popper.  25 Years Ago, the Seminole Theatre was nearly wiped off the map from Hurricane Andrew.  It took 23 years for us to open our doors again.  We were spared by Hurricane Irma, but many of our friends in the Florida Keys, west coast of Florida and the Caribbean were not.  So we have teamed up with John Popper to create a benefit concert to help the Florida Keys.  All proceeds from the concert will go to the United Way of the Florida Keys Hurricane Irma fund, where 100% of funds are distributed to local, long term relief efforts in the Florida Keys.

So join us for a night of great music, for a great cause!

JOHN POPPER, the iconic, charismatic lead singer of Blues Traveler, the popular rock and jam band from the 1990’s celebrating their 30th anniversary this fall, brings his harmonica and bandmate Ben Wilson, on piano, to share AN EVENING WITH BLUES TRAVELER’S JOHN POPPER – THE HITS. THE STORIES. THE EXPERIENCE.

 Using his harmonica designed uniquely by Fender and his legendary voice, Popper entertains with an evening of classic Blues Traveler’s tunes, “Run Around,” “Hook,” and “But Anyway,” breaking down the hits and sharing the stories from his long and successful colorful career, from the formation of Blues Traveler, his relationship with H.O.R.D.E Festival, all the way to his involvement with the Grateful Dead.

Over their 30 year illustrious career, Popper has been the voice on more than 10 million albums and 2000 live shows in front of 30 million people. “Run-Around” is the longest-charting radio single in Billboard history and earned them a Grammy. A television favorite, they have been featured on Saturday Night Live, Austin City Limits and VH1’s Behind the Music, and they hold the record for most appearances of any artist on The Late Show with David Letterman.

Katrina Woolverton is an American singer/songwriter and recording artist from Los Angeles, California. She rose to fame in 2011 with the release of her debut album In The Blink Of An Eye that featured three top charting singles, “Shame on Me”, “OPM” and “So Eden” Katrina was named iHeartRadio’s “Artist to Watch in 2011” and was the opening act in the U.S. for Meatloaf during the Mad, Mad World Tour 2012.

The Historic Seminole Theatre provides a hub for all the arts, not just the performing arts. The new gallery space in the Seminole Theatre lobby celebrates fine and visual arts and promotes local artists.

The Artist in the Spotlight program (formerly known as “Art in the Chambers”) was created in 2010 by Councilman Shelley to highlight the talents of local artists and allow them to showcase their artwork to the local community. Councilman Shelley is an avid photographer himself and has a passion for the arts. “I know how hard it can be to promote and market your work as an artist, and I wanted to create a program that would help our local artist publicize their work and advance their careers. I also wanted to help promote art in general and art education within our Homestead community” said Councilman Shelley.

On Monday, August 29, the Seminole Theatre will open its doors to the public for a Gallery Night at the Seminole. From 6:30-8:30 pm, guests are welcome to browse the artwork on display, meet the featured artist, and enjoy wine and cheese.

The featured artist for August – September 2017 is artist Carlos Franco. His series of paintings are all oils on canvas, He profoundly enjoys the challenge of recreating a person’s essence, while leaving the audience the desire to decipher the mysteries of the life of another human being, who could actually be a real person very much alive, or just somebody that is a fruit of his imagination. 

Carlos Franco invites viewers to speculate based on their own concepts of beauty, poetry and even seduction. Carlos Franco says “This project has always been grounded in pleasure and aesthetics”.

As a special treat, you will also be able to see the art made by the Children’s Art Gallery artists.

Former participants of the program found the exposure to be invaluable. South Florida National Parks Camera Club, featured artists of July-August 2015, President Jason Eldridge says, “There are few venues available for clubs to show the work of members; we are grateful for this opportunity to allow our photographers to share their art with the community.” Past participants include: Robert L. Chaplin, Paul Marcellini, Luis Núñez, Brian Trainor, Jessica M. Ujaque, Angeline Marie Martinez, The Children’s Gallery and Arts Center, ArtSouth, Caryl Alarcón, Jesus Marquez, Teresa Slomko, Artist-in-Residence-in-Everglades (AIRIE), Suzanne Moe, Marcela Noriega, Marcia Maynard, Lillian Marlatt, Mimi Dickson, Mary Dee Burkhart, Ruth Campbell, Carol McGunagle, and South Florida National Parks Camera Club.

The installation at the Seminole Theatre was made possible in large part due to a donation from the Friends of the Historic Seminole Theatre. A non-profit founded in 1997 with the goal of restoring the then vacant and dilapidated Seminole Theatre, the “Friends” now work diligently to maintain the Theatre’s architectural history and community contribution.

Come out to our annual Country Night!  Featuring great country music, lip-smacking BBQ food trucks, great drinks, and everything else you would want.

This year’s headliner for Country Night is the Tobacco Rd. Band.

Tobacco Rd Band was formed by Eric Durrance, CMT artist and co-writer of Jake Owens top 10 single “Eight Second Ride”. The four piece Florida hard rocking country band hit the ground running with their first single “Stiff Drink”. It received lots of airplay on country radio stations and soon the band was packing bars and clubs around the South East. The band has opened shows for Josh Turner, Jake Owen, Justin Moore, Jason Aldean, Cole Swindell, Brantley Gilbert and many many more. The band also teamed up with Colt Ford in the studio to record their smash hit “Thats Country”. In 2016,the band plans to continue pushing forward with their 5th studio album and plans to release the first single off the album this spring.
