Cap off your visit to the FREE Eco Fair and Film Festival with a FREE screening of Over the Hedge at the Historic Seminole Theatre.

A scheming raccoon fools a mismatched family of forest creatures into helping him repay a debt of food, by invading the new suburban sprawl that popped up while they were hibernating…and learns a lesson about family himself.

Tickets are not required for entry and do not guarantee you a seat, but RSVPs do help us project how many people will attend.  Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Martin Barre Celebrates 50 YEARS OF JETHRO TULL featuring Clive Bunker, Dee Palmer & Special Guests.

In 1969, a band of four English musicians arrived in New York and literally took America by storm. Over the
next 50 years, this legendary band accumulated over 65 million record sales and a following of loyal fans that
are the envy of rock bands worldwide! This band was Jethro Tull.

Legendary guitarist Martin Barre reunites with his former Jethro Tull bandmates Clive Bunker (drums) and Dee Palmer (keyboards) in celebration of the band’s 50th anniversary.

At the center of Tull’s unique sound is guitarist Martin Barre. Renowned for his formidable mastery of
historic riffs, power chords and soaring melodic solos.  Martin Barre has been the guitarist of Jethro Tull for 43 years, his sound and playing having been a major factor in their success.

Martin’s guitar playing has earned him a high level of respect and recognition; he was voted 25th best solo ever in the USA and 20th best solo ever in the UK for his playing on ‘Aqualung’. His playing on the album ‘Crest of a Knave’ earned him a Grammy award in 1988.

As well as numerous Jethro Tull albums, Martin has worked with many other artists including Paul McCartney, Phil Collins, Gary Moore, Jo Bonamassa and Chris Thompson and has shared a stage with such legends as Hendrix, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. As Jethro Tull are taking a long break from touring, Martin has put together a band to play the “classic” music from the Tull catalogue. His band is a total commitment to give the Tull fans and a broader audience the chance to hear tracks not performed for many years. The band includes top musicians from a similar background.

Aqualung, probably the most famous and celebrated of all of Jethro Tull’s albums, is now

Martin is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the release of the iconic and legendary album
Aqualung with a worldwide tour throughout 2021. Territories will include South America, USA,
Canada and Europe. He will be bringing a spectacular show playing the album in its entirety
with his touring band The Martin Barre Band – featuring Dan Crisp on lead vocals, Alan Thomson
on bass, and Darby Todd on Drums.
Martin Says:
“Aqualung was the album that defined Tull. Sumptuous melodies, big dynamics and power riffs
galore. Acoustic met electric…and it all worked.”
The anniversary tour will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to sit back and relive this legendary
album, being played in full and in sequence for the first time.

The Afro Roots Fest will make its debut in the City of Homestead at the historic Seminole Theater on Saturday, April 27, 2019, with a special presentation of Cuban singer / songwriter Danay Suarez an Islamorada-based guitarist David Feder  beginning at 8 p.m.

The four time Grammy-nominated Suarez is a thoughtful, eloquent vocalist who singularly combines soul and hip-hop with reggae and the traditional Cuban styling called son. Her latest offering Palabras Manuales features contributions from Stephen Marley, Idan Raichel, Roberto Fonseca and Jason Matthews. A veteran of many major national and international music festivals, Danay won the prestigious La Gaviota de Inspiración award during the 2017 Festival Viňa in Chile.

Feder fuses his background of jazz and classical music with Flamenco folk stylings and a multi-cultural island vibe. His music has been featured on NPR’s All Songs Considered, World Café Live, PBS Art Loft, NPR’s Folk & Acoustic Music, among other outlets. Feder spent six weeks at the top of the Broadjam World Music Chart with his critically acclaimed album “Black Emerald” and has been featured on All My Children (ABC), Art Loft (PBS), the NBC Good Morning show, National Park Service Educational Videos, and Florida Everglades Documentaries.

Now in its 21st year, the Afro Roots Fest – named one of “South Florida’s Ten Best Music Festivals” by the Miami New Times – is a travelling affair that brings music from the African diaspora and the Caribbean to the masses. The event is made possible with the support of Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, and the Knight Foundation. Learn more at www.AfroRootsFest.com.
